Pistons

Tracko pistons are engineered using high-strength alloys and state-of-the-art manufacturing techniques to ensure superior quality, reliability, and performance. Designed to enhance engine efficiency, our pistons are crafted with high thermal conductivity materials that promote optimal cooling and sustained performance. Their lightweight yet durable construction guarantees smooth operation over extended usage, making them ideal for demanding applications.

Our pistons are built with enhanced resistance to wear in critical areas such as ring grooves, skirts, and gudgeon pin holes, ensuring long-lasting dimensional stability. Each alloy piston undergoes a rigorous heat treatment and aging process to maximize strength and durability, meeting the toughest industry standards.

As a prominent manufacturer and exporter of pistons in India, Tracko specializes in producing custom-designed pistons tailored to specific customer requirements worldwide. We adhere to stringent international quality standards, ensuring that our pistons serve as reliable OEM replacements for a wide range of vehicles and machinery across global markets.

Piston Types

1. Conventional Pistons

These are the standard engine pistons—typically forged or cast from aluminum alloys—with basic ring grooves to accommodate piston rings. They are designed to provide reliable combustion chamber sealing, efficient energy transfer, and a balanced combination of weight and strength for everyday applications.

2. Alfin / Ring Carrier Pistons

These pistons feature integrated ring carriers (also known as groove inserts) that are made from a non‑magnetic, nickel-based austenitic cast iron—commonly referred to as “Ni‑Resist.” This material is known for its high wear resistance, low thermal expansion, and excellent bonding with the aluminum piston during casting. The Ni‑Resist inserts protect the ring grooves against friction and wear, thereby extending piston life, particularly under high-stress or high-temperature conditions.

3. Double Alfin / Ring Carrier Pistons

Building on the Alfin concept, double Alfin pistons incorporate dual Ni‑Resist ring carrier inserts in both the upper and lower ring grooves. This extra reinforcement further enhances ring sealing and durability, making these pistons ideal for extreme performance or forced-induction engines where elevated combustion pressures and temperatures are common.

4. Oil Cooling Gallery Pistons

These pistons are engineered with internal oil passages or galleries that allow cooling oil to circulate near the piston crown. The directed oil flow efficiently dissipates heat, maintaining lower operating temperatures and improving durability in high-performance or heavily tuned engines.

5. Ring Carrier & Oil Cooling Gallery Pistons

Combining the benefits of integrated Ni‑Resist ring carriers with dedicated oil cooling channels, these pistons offer enhanced wear protection along with superior thermal management. They maintain optimal ring sealing while actively reducing piston crown temperatures—ideal for engines facing severe thermal loads.

5. Steel Strut Pistons

In this design, a steel reinforcement (or “strut”) is built into the piston to increase its structural rigidity. The added strength minimizes flex and distortion during high-speed or high-load conditions, ensuring consistent ring sealing and improved resistance to detonation-induced stresses. This makes them a popular choice for high-performance and heavy-duty applications.

Surface Coatings for Pistons

Thermal Barrier Coating:

A ceramic-based coating (often using yttria‑stabilized zirconia) is applied to the piston crown to reflect heat back into the combustion chamber. This minimizes heat transfer into the piston, helping to keep temperatures lower and improve combustion efficiency.

Friction Reduction Coating:

This low-friction coating is applied to the piston skirt to reduce wear and energy losses as the piston moves within the cylinder. By incorporating solid lubricants, it minimizes friction, leading to smoother operation and extended component life.

Anodising:

Anodising is an electrochemical process that thickens the natural aluminum oxide layer on aluminum pistons. The result is a hard, uniform finish that boosts corrosion resistance and durability while also reducing friction on critical surfaces.
