Cylinder Liners

Cylinder liners are precision-engineered sleeves installed within an engine block to provide a durable, replaceable surface for piston movement and combustion. Tracko’s cylinder liners are honed to perfection, ensuring superior wear resistance and an ultra-smooth finish for optimal performance. They act as a barrier, reducing wear and friction between the piston and the engine, while also aiding in effective heat management.

Built to withstand rugged conditions, our liners deliver exceptional durability and reliability, even in the toughest applications. By ensuring consistent performance and prolonging engine life, cylinder liners play a vital role in maintaining efficiency and reliability in modern engines.

Cylinder Liners Types

1. Dry Type Cylinder Liner

Manufacturing: Dry liners are typically manufactured using centrifugal casting, which ensures uniform material density. Shell-moulding techniques may also be used for precise outer dimensions.

Purpose: These liners provide a wear-resistant surface for the piston to move, protecting the engine block. They are designed to be lightweight and cost-efficient.

Features

Application

Commonly used in small engines, such as those in passenger cars, motorcycles, and light machinery, where the cooling system does not need to cool the liner directly.

2. Wet Type Cylinder Liner

Manufacturing: Wet liners are often produced using sand casting or centrifugal casting to ensure precision and durability. The inner surface is honed for a smooth finish, while the outer surface includes grooves for sealing rings.

Purpose: Wet liners come into direct contact with the engine coolant, ensuring efficient heat transfer and temperature regulation in high-performance engines.

Features

Application

Ideal for heavy-duty engines in trucks, tractors, industrial machinery, and marine applications where effective cooling is essential.

3. Air Cooled Cylinder Liner (Finned / Winged)

Manufacturing: These liners are manufactured using “Shell Moulding Process”. External fins are cast as part of the liner to maximize surface area. The inner surface undergoes precision honing for smoother piston movement.

Purpose: Finned liners use air as the cooling medium. The fins increase the surface area, enabling better heat dissipation in environments where liquid cooling systems are not feasible.

Features

Application

Primarily used in air-cooled engines, such as those found in motorcycles, scooters, small generators, and portable industrial engines.
